Washing your Lashes & Why its Important

Okay so, if you're a client of mine you know how crazy I am about the importance of washing your lashes. I'm literally a broken record but I will not stop until everyone knows the benefits to washing your lashes!

It is wild to me that I still get new clients that were either told not to wet their lashes ever or that they had no idea at all they should be washing them. Hey, this is the god's honest truth. It's not their fault, how should anyone know this stuff? Well I'm here to help you!

You wash your hair right? You wash your body which contains hair right? Well why should your lashes be any different? Well then you might ask me ‘before having lash extensions I never washed my lashes?’ but yes you did you washed the makeup off of them and rinsed them under the shower head (hopefully) you just weren't as conscious of doing it as you will be washing your lash extensions.

The job of your natural eyelashes is to protect your eye from anything going into it. Now that you have these big, extended things on your lashes, they are catching even more dirt, dust, and debris. This is why we must wash our lashes DAILY! If you do not wash your lashes the list of things that could build up on, in or around your eye could cause a serious infection. I'm not trying to scare you, this is just science.

Aside from the health benefit of washing your lashes every day, I really mean every single day, washing will extend the life of your beloved lash extensions. Also, doing this will make your lash artist love you! Lashes are an investment and you should do anything possible to protect that investment. What easier way to do that than by washing your lashes?! Seriously it's the true key to perfect long-lasting lashes. If you do not wash your lashes daily, a build up pf makeup, skin cells, and other debris will start to form. When this happens it makes it almost impossible to have a strong, long lasting bond between the natural lash and the lash extension. The work of lash extension is so tedious and small, any tiny piece of debris will get in the way. For lash extensions to live their best life, they need to be placed on a bare natural lash. This is what the lash adhesive was designed to adhere to.

If you are someone who has lash extensions and told not to wash them, are your lashes ever itchy? This is because there are most likely allergens stuck in your lashes that need to be cleansed away. Do you ever wonder why your lash extensions aren't as dark in color as they were when you left your appointment? I can probably guarentee they have your foundation on them. By washing away the makeup your lashes are going to stay their true dark color and we all love the darkest possible lashes.

Still don't believe me? I challenge you to do an experiment. Wash your lashes every day for a week. See what happens. I guarantee you will love the way your lashes look and feel.
